Potbellied pigs are clean, odorless, and easily housetrained. They have a sway back,
straight tail, and are usually found in black, black and white, and solid white.
They are social, affectionate animals and love belly rubs and scratching. Many people
who are allergic to dogs or cats are not bothered by pig hair (they have no dander).
Because of the pig's thick skin, seldom do they get ticks or fleas. Their diet should
consist of a good quality potbellied pig chow, healthy snacks (fruits and vegetables), and
a plentiful supply of fresh drinking water.
Although they make wonderful pets and bond well with people and other animals, it is
important to make a commitment to them in terms of finding a vet, a sitter when you are
away, and a "pig proof" environment. Of course, these same things are true for a dog or
cat, but dog/cat vets and sitters are somewhat easier to find.
We have been breeding and raising potbellied pigs for 20 years and breed healthy correct
animals that range in size from 40-70 pounds. We are USDA licensed. All of our males are
neutered at an early age and we recommend the spaying of females for the best pet pig
possible.
