Pygmy Goats are an intelligent animal, bonding easily with other livestock as well as people.
They are a herd animal and need to live in a group with other goats or sheep. Their antics
provide continuous entertainment as they love to run, jump, climb, and play all day. With the
Pygmy Goat being twenty-three inches or less, they are easy to handle and house. They adapt well
to most climates and come in a variety of colors.
Pygmies are effective browsers, eliminating brush, weeds, and leaves. They should be fed hay
with supplemental grain during pregnancy and lactation. Does are usually bred at twelve to fifteen
months with a gestation period of five months, producing one to four young called kids. Kids will
nurse almost immediately and are weaned at eight to twelve weeks.
Pygmies also require shelter from wind and rain, regular worming, and hoof trimming.
